How to Fix an Aluminum Garage Door:

- A bucket of water
- Wash up liquid
- A lighter
- Sponge
- Compressed air
- Tinfoil
These items can all be found almost anywhere
- Mix a small amount of wash up liquid into a bucket of warm water.
- Use a sponge to remove all dirt and grime from the dented area and leave it to dry.
- Cut an amount of tinfoil large enough to cover the entire dent.
- Hold the tinfoil in place with your hand, for a safer option, fix it in place with tape.
- Hold the light flame over the tinfoil for around one minute. This will transfer the heat to the dented area.
- Remove the tinfoil and spray condensed air onto the dented area, make sure you are holding the can upside down as you do this.
- The sudden change in temperature will cause the dent to reverse and push itself back out. The dented aluminum should find its way back into its original pre-dented position.
How to Fix a Steel Garage Door:
For the garage door repair to be successful, you will need the following:
- A bucket of water
- Wash up liquid
- Sandpaper
- Sponge
- Putty knife
- Auto body putty
- Paint that matches the color of your garage door
These items can all be found almost anywhere
- Mix a small amount of wash up liquid into a bucket of warm water.
- Use a sponge to remove all dirt and grime from the dented area and leave to dry.
- Sand the dent with sandpaper and wipe away the dust. Try various grit sandpapers
- Apply the auto body filler putty to the dented area using the putty knife. Leave to dry.
- Sand the area again and wipe or spray away any excess dust.
- Tape off areas you do not want to spray
- Prime and paint the area.
